Children with visual impairments are being included in general physical education now more than ever. Unfortunately, even the most well-meaning teachers do not always have the background or knowledge to include these children safely or successfully. Please join us for this one-day workshop and learn how to include children with visual impairments, deafblindness and additional disabilities. Our nationally recognized presenter will share instructional techniques, equipment options, blind sports, validated assessments, and a variety of relevant resources that will help your entire program.
The target audience includes K-12 physical educators, adapted physical educators, special educators, vision teachers, recreation personnel and paraprofessionals.
Our speaker: Dr. Lauren Lieberman, Ph.D. is a Distinguished Service Professor of adapted physical education at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Brockport and the Founder/Director of Camp Abilities, a developmental sports camp for students with blindness, deaf-blindness, or vision loss. Dr. Lieberman is an internationally-known speaker and has authored numerous books and articles on adapted physical activity.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Baymont Inn and Suites of Mandan, at a cost of $75 per night, plus tax. Please call (701) 663-7401 to make your reservation. Reservations must be made by March 3, 2018.
